Jesus Gave His Life So I could Do Good Deeds

He gave his life to free us from every kind of sin, to cleanse us, and to make us his very own people, totally committed to doing good deeds.

Titus 2:14 NLT

https://bible.com/bible/116/tit.2.14.NLT

I want to do good deeds to show what Jesus has done for me.  He saved me so I could be a witness for him by doing good deeds and showing my commitment to Him.

The Lord Is My Light And Salvation

The Lord is my light and my salvation— so why should I be afraid? The Lord is my fortress, protecting me from danger, so why should I tremble?

Psalms 27:1 NLT

https://bible.com/bible/116/psa.27.1.NLT

I must remember that the Lord is my light and salvation.  I don't need to be afraid of what will happen because God will protect me.  I must keep my focus on Jesus and not on what's going on in the world.  If I focus too much on the world, I will be afraid of what might happen instead of relying on God.

Clothe Myself in Tenderhearted Mercy

Since God chose you to be the holy people he loves, you must clothe yourselves with tenderhearted mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience.

Colossians 3:12 NLT

https://bible.com/bible/116/col.3.12.NLT

I try to clothe myself in tenderhearted mercy, kindness, humility, and patience.  I am not always patient, so I'm trying to be more patient.  I'm also trying to be more merciful and kind because while I'm kind, I am not a very merciful person, so I'm trying to improve that aspect of my life.

Do Not Use Foul Or Abusive Language

Don’t use foul or abusive language. Let everything you say be good and helpful so that your words will be an encouragement to those who hear them.

Ephesians 4:29 NLT

https://bible.com/bible/116/eph.4.29.NLT

This scripture is why we as Christians, myself included should not swear.  We should speak words that are encouraging to one another.  We should also not use abusive language, and that doesn't just mean swearing.  You ca be very abusive to people verbally and not swear at all.

I don't have a swearing problem, and I don't use foul language, but I'm not always an encouraging person, so I'm trying to not use language that can be emotionally abusive language to other people.

God Gives Spiritual Gifts To Believers

Here are some of the parts God has appointed for the church: first are apostles, second are prophets, third are teachers, then those who do miracles, those who have the gift of healing, those who can help others, those who have the gift of leadership, those who speak in unknown languages.

1 Corinthians 12:28 NLT

God gave me a gift to help others and I've tried to do my best to help others this week.  I want to use my gifts to help others and glorify Jesus.

I Don't Know When Jesus Is Coming Back, I Must Be Alert!

And since you don’t know when that time will come, be on guard! Stay alert!

Mark 13:33 NLT

https://bible.com/bible/116/mrk.13.33.NLT

I need to always live like Jesus will come back today, because Jesus didn't put His return date on a calendar, I need to share the Gospel with others when I can.

Don’t Worry About Anything, Instead, Pray About Everything

Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done.

Philippians 4:6 NLT

https://bible.com/bible/116/php.4.6.NLT

I know everyone is worried about Russia and Ukraine and a lot of other things now, like Covid-19 and what's going on in our world.  But God reminded me through this verse that we can take our worries to God, and thank Him for what He's done in our lives.

Praying is God's solution for what I should do when I hear and see things that make me worry.    It's easy to be bogged down by worry, but God wants you to pray to Him about your worries and thank Him for all the good things He's done in your life.
