I'm going to tell you a story about why I decided to purchase an e-book about surviving YouTube as a gamer. As a YouTuber, I started my channel to do video reviews, then I moved into gaming while still doing reviews. Over the last five years, I've struggled with growing my channel. I'd gotten partnered with FullScreen Media, and yet, no matter what I did, my channel growth stalled horribly. When I had renewed my channel with FullScreen, I had 404 subscribers, and that was after being with them for two years, and I had joined them with 156 subscribers, and yet I'd been on YouTube for four years, but my channel was stuck in a rut, and I wasn't growing my subs, although my views went up.
One day, I stumbled on Alloy Seven's channel while looking up information for monetizing gaming videos, and his advice was fantastic, helpful and not fly-by-night, "Do these three things and BAM, your YouTube channel will magically grow overnight!" videos I'd seen all over, I've tried all the things these other YouTubers suggested and it didn't help me grow.
Alloy Seven's channel helped me grow my channel, although it's tiny growth right now, he kept talking about his "YouTube Gamers Survival Guide" e-book, and even though it costs money, I really want to grow my channel, and I was tired of so-called "techniques" that didn't work. Believe me, I tried every piece of advice those videos gave, and it didn't do a thing for me, at all, and with over 1,000 videos, you'd think my channel would grow more, but it didn't.
And as someone who got sick of people in the FullScreen forums begging for subscribers (who are just a number unless they actually watch your videos), and hearing people constantly say they want to leave FullScreen Media because they didn't like their pay cut, or saw people quit YouTube because it was too "hard", I didn't want to be one of those people, I want to make my channel grow and thrive, so I bought this book because if he's selling good advice I should buy it because, in the words of the Joker: If you’re good at something, never do it for free.
A Real Survival Guide to YouTube
This book doesn't play around. Whether or not you're a gamer, if you are thinking about YouTube as a career, you need to read this book. It tells you what you need to do to succeed, and a lot of it is about your behavior. For a long time, I've not known WHO my channel was for, and thanks to Alloy Seven and the YouTube Gamers Survival Guide, I know WHO my audience is, and I will tailor my channel to that audience.
A lot of gamers don't know who their audience is because they want a quick get-rich-quick, I can make money playing games all day technique. This book doesn't give you any of that; it gives you practical things that, gasp, involve effort! Everyone has the misconception that being on YouTube is easy; it's not. Whether you're doing V-logs, let's plays, or reviews or anything, it's hard to grow your channel, let alone earn money on YouTube, so any real advice helps a lot!
This e-book challenged me, because I'm horribly inconsistent. Sure, I make uploads, but I have several incomplete Let's Plays of games I need to finish because I would get burned out on them and move on to something else. I will go back and finish some games after I finish a route of a visual novel I'm really enjoying called Fate/Stay Night, a visual novel that has three separate stories in one, and it's very long. After I finish that, I’ll go back and finish games I never completed.
Back on topic, this book deals with your motives for creating a gaming channel, who your target audience is, and how to grow your channel. Alloy Seven teaches you principles that don't just apply to YouTube but life as well.
I enjoyed the book because not only was it helpful, but it also gave various examples of successful
YouTubers, such as Gopher and Game Theorists, and what they did to find their target audiences and become successful!
And no, the answer's not being a cheap PewDiePie knockoff!
No, you will not become famous by being a cheap imitation of PewDiePie!
Not Just an E-Book for Gamers!
This e-book may say "YouTube Gamers Survival Guide," but only a few sections are specifically about gaming, such as capture cards and the type of computer you should use. But everything else can be applied to any YouTube channel being created, and that's why any YouTuber starting a channel and you want to make money (making money on YouTube isn't a bad thing, after all, people do this as their full-time job!), you should read this book because it covers everything you'd need to know about starting and running a successful YouTube channel.

This book is essential for any YouTuber wanting to start a gaming channel. The YouTube gaming community may seem "oversaturated," but I've narrowed down what I want to do with my channel, and even before I bought this book, I was using his advice to grow my channel, and it WORKS!
There are also references to other books in the e-book that I will be looking into as well.
If you want to grow your YouTube channel without cheap tricks and gimmicks that don't really work, buy this book. It might seem like a pain to spend money on an e-book about doing YouTube gaming, but believe me, if his free advice grew my channel after it'd been stuck for years, his advice will help you, whether you're starting with 0 subscribers or have 1,000,000 subscribers. This book will breathe new life into you and your YouTube channel.
