I Have Put My Hope in Your Word

As I start the new year, I am reminded of God's unfailing love and how He will lead me and guide me through the new year.  I want to learn from His Word and let Him teach me through His Word reading the Bible this year.

Devoting myself to God gives me freedom, and as I celebrate Christmas I must remember that Jesus came to the earth to give me freedom.  Devoting myself to Jesus gives me freedom.

Help Me Understand Your Commandments

 

Help me understand the meaning of your commandments, and I will meditate on your wonderful deeds.

I need to look at God's Word and try to understand it, not just read it because it's part of my daily routine.  I need to meditate on His Word and remember all the wonderful things He has done for me in my life.

It's easy for my Bible reading to just be part of my daily routine and something I do because I just do it. I want God's word to teach me something important and I want to be excited about reading the Bible and not just let it be a routine.  I want to remember what I read and have it mean something important to me when I read it.

The Lord Is My Place of Saftey

 

This I declare about the Lord: He alone is my refuge, my place of safety; he is my God, and I trust him.

During these difficult times dealing with Covid-19, it's easy for me to worry, thinking, "Am I going to get Covid-19?".  This verse reminds me that God is my refuge and place of safety.  He will protect me from Covid-19.  It says in Psalm 91 that I don't have to be afraid of disease, because I put my trust in God.  It's very easy for me to be overcome by fear because of the media or hear that someone I know had Covid or died from it.  

But this verse reminds me that I don't have to be afraid or worry because I am trusting God to protect me and take care of me.

Choose Whom You Will Serve

 

Then Elijah stood in front of them and said, “How much longer will you waver, hobbling between two opinions? If the Lord is God, follow him! But if Baal is God, then follow him!” But the people were completely silent.

The people of Israel had to choose to serve God or false gods.  I have to make a choice about whether I want to serve God or myself.  I must choose God and put Him first in my life and follow His Word.
