Tell Them Everything the Lord Has Done For You

 

But Jesus said, “No, go home to your family, and tell them everything the Lord has done for you and how merciful he has been.” So the man started off to visit the Ten Towns of that region and began to proclaim the great things Jesus had done for him; and everyone was amazed at what he told them.

Jesus wanted the demoniac to share his testimony and not just follow Him.  Jesus wants me to share His love with everyone and tell others about what He has done for me.  He has saved my life by leading my parents to adopt me and He saved my soul by showing me His salvation.

Listen Closely and Recieve Understanding

 

Then he added, “Pay close attention to what you hear. The closer you listen, the more understanding you will be given—and you will receive even more. To those who listen to my teaching, more understanding will be given. But for those who are not listening, even what little understanding they have will be taken away from them.”

I need to listen to understand what God is saying in His Word.  I need to pay attention to what it says, listening to Jesus' teachings will give me more understanding.  If I don't pay attention even what I do understand will be taken away.

Be Good Soil For God's Word

 

And the seed that fell on good soil represents those who hear and accept God’s word and produce a harvest of thirty, sixty, or even a hundred times as much as had been planted!”

I need to be the person who is good soil and accepts God's Word.  I need to produce a harvest in my life, reaching people for Jesus.  That is what I'm supposed to do.

I Am Part of the Family Of Jesus

Jesus does have family, it's you and me, and doing the will of God makes me a member of Jesus' family.  I do the will of God by reading His word and obeying what He says.
